Start with the Welding Job, Not Only the Amp Rating
When choosing an MMA welding machine, the printed maximum current is only one consideration. Buyers should look at the intended electrode range, material, working intensity and available power supply.
Amperage
The required current depends on electrode type and diameter, material and welding position.
Duty Cycle
Duty cycle indicates how long a machine can operate at a stated output within a defined test period and temperature condition. Comparisons are meaningful only when the stated conditions are comparable.
Electrode Size
Confirm which electrode diameters and types are intended for the machine. Larger electrodes generally require more current, but the correct setting depends on the electrode specification and welding job.
Input Power
Importers should confirm voltage, phase and frequency for the destination market.
